The professionals behind Wi-tect.

Dr. Loïc Markley received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2013 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia. He leads a research team investigating various topics in applied electromagnetics, including frequency-selective surfaces, artificial electromagnetic materials, microwave circuits, antennas, and wireless power transfer. He also teaches several graduate and undergraduate courses in electromagnetics and microwave engineering.

Nibirh Jawad is a graduate student in Dr. Markley’s research lab at the University of British Columbia. He received his Master’s in Electrical Engineering in 2019 and is currently working towards his Ph.D. His research’s primary focus is on designing and testing novel surfaces for electromagnetic shielding applications.

Andrew Gaucher is a real estate developer and builder. Spending much of his time innovating within these industries, Andrew seeks solutions to problems that will improve homes and build environments his team constructs. This led Andrew to create the Witect solution with the engineering expertise and insights of Dr. Loïc Markley and Nibirh.

James Poleak has been working on developing energy-efficient solutions for homes and buildings for years. His dedication to the cause led him to co-found Wi-tect, where he heads the product development team and oversees the creation of innovative products. Outside of work, David enjoys practicing yoga and playing the piano.
